ISU ESC Participant MichaŁ Szaniawski Nominated as Space Agency President
The one-week Executive Space Course (ESC) was developed by ISU with as main objective to introduce the benefits of space applications mainly to non-engineers. It is therefore evident that it has attracted over the years several policy makers and Agency representatives.
They include, to name a few, managers of the newly formed South-African Space Agency, ministers responsible for space affairs from Estonia, Lithuania and Isle of Man, ambassadors and many other leading officials.
One of them, MichaŁ Szanaiawski, attended successfully the course in 2017 and is now, in October 2019, nominated as President of the Polish Space Agency.
The Polish Space Agency, also called POLSA, coordinates the participation of representations of the Polish space sector in the European Union (EU), the European Space Agency (ESA), Eumetsat and the European Defense Agency (EDA) in the field of space research, space technology and satellite technology. At present one of its interesting projects is Sat4Envi which, as the name implies, is designed to collect data on Environmental changes. Several ISU alumni are linked to the Agency.
Mr. Szaniawski studied at the University of Warsaw and the Catholic University of Leuven, before obtaining the ESC certificate at the International Space University (ISU). He was Vice President of Industrial Development Agency JSC and Advisor to the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Technology before joining POLSA in 2018, where he is now nominated as President.
ISU wishes him all success in his new position and looks forward to strengthen cooperation with his Agency.
