New Book about ISU co-founder Peter Diamandis

The award-winning journalist Julian Guthrie recently published a New York Times best-selling book about ISU co-founder Dr. Peter Diamandis and a group of people who dreamed of getting to space without the government’s help.

The book describes how Peter, disappointed by the winding down of human space flight by NASA, launched the $10 million XPRIZE competition to create a private space flight industry himself. The book, with a foreword by Richard Branson and an afterword by Stephen Hawking, tells of the early days of the founding of ISU: the hopes, dreams, obstacles, and successes.

We all know Peter well as a co-founder of the International Space University and a series of entrepreneurial endeavors. It seems therefore evident that many ISU alumni will be interested in reading the book about his achievements – and those of people including ISU co-founders Bob Richards and Todd Hawley, Erik Lindbergh, Burt Rutan, Anousheh Ansari, Elon Musk, and many more – in the creation of the commercial space industry of today. “How to make a Spaceship” was published by Penguin Press, Sep 20, 2016 (see the cover page below).

Evidently Peter will always have a weak spot for ISU as one of its founders! He has organized, together with the author, a wonderful offer for ISU alumni and others from the ISU family…

For all those buying the book before the end of May, Peter and the author, Julian Guthrie, will send you a signed insert sticker (with both of their signatures) that can be put in the book. In order to get this insert, send proof of your purchase to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., with your name and mailing address. The adhesive book plate (or plates – one sticker per book) will be sent to you.

And buying the book via Amazon Smile, and choosing International Space University Organization, Inc., will also help support ISU at the same time.

A signed copy of this book should be of interest to anyone in our ISU family!

WHAT OUR ALUMNI SAY

"My life can be clearly divided between before and after ISU. ISU was a breaking point that created a world of possibilities in front of me."

Carmen Felix - MSS10 -

"Attending ISU has been, for me, the ultimate eye-opening experience. Attending the Master of Space Studies allowed me to pursue my personal interests with a limit determined only by my imagination."

"My space flight was the changing point in my whole life. Since my background was mechanical engineering, I did not know much about space, which led me to the International Space University."

Soyeon Yi - SSP09 -

"ISU is broadening the global space community and connecting New Space countries to old and mighty ones."

Mart Vihmand - SSP11&MSS13 -
