With more than 9300 delegates and 250 exhibitors, the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2022 which took place from 18 to 22 September 2022 in Paris, France – was a record in the history of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) IACs, as well as for the International Space University (ISU) with close to 400 alumni attending!
The ISU booth – ideally located amongst its industry and agency partners, equipped with the latest Oculus Metaverse goggles sponsored by the Metavisionaries, presenting the new offering of the ISU Incubator – was very popular, often spilling over into the alleyways, receiving visitors throughout the day for the entire five days! ISU’s Space Studies Program #SSP23 Brazil, Master of Space Studies #MSS23, Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program #SHSSP23 and Executive Space Courses (ESC22 Tel Aviv, ESC22 Seoul, ESC23 ISU Strasbourg) will hopefully see an impressive peak in applications over the coming days. The advertised Moon Day organized by the French Space Agency CNES in collaboration with ISU on 10th November 2022 has already seen an additional 20 registrations.
The event provided ISU with the perfect opportunity to sign Memorandum of Understandings with organizations such as the Japanese Space Agency – JAXA – and Euroconsult.
ISU faculty and students presented many papers on their research and ISU team projects in technical sessions. ISU faculty chaired several technical sessions and attended many technical committees.
We congratulate especially all ISU alumni who gave their first presentation at IAC22!
The traditional SGAC/ISU/IAF YP networking event allowed 600 people to exchange contacts, information, ideas and reminisce the past in an informal setting!
The Science and Academic Day breakfast entitled “Developing Success from Failures” and moderated by Deganit Paikowsky, featured four ISU panelists:

- Yoav Landsman (SSP19), CEO Moonscape
- Jenna Tiwana (MSS17), European Business Development & Partnerships Officer, Ispace Inc
We learnt that although there are different types of personal and professional failures and successes, we persevere and support the exciting and evolving space sector.
