Hello Space Fanatics!
We are eagerly waiting for your arrival in Adelaide, Australia for the Southern Hemisphere Space Program 2023. The staff has started preparing nice and early carrying out some important activities including onboarding of participants and planning the course structure for the intensive five-week program.
We had an absolute blast on the first day as we introduced one another and counted at least nine countries participating in this intensive summer space program in Adelaide.
Our first day started with Australian ISU alum Alex Ryan conducting a campus tour in which we were shown around the main lecture theatres and workspaces where the SHSSP23 participants will be working and engaging in at the UniSA, Mawson Lakes campus. The amenities around the lecture theatres and workspaces are perfect to relieve stress after hours of engaging in lectures and studying. Some of the amenities include a table tennis table, pool table, and a lounge area to watch movies, play games, or just chill out with your fellow teammates and friends.
On the campus tour, Alex showed us our Mission Control room in which the Mission Control Team will be in charge of supporting and guiding the crew to make our lives easier to achieve a successful mission.
We had our first interaction with the SHSSP23 participants, Team Project coordinators Emeline Paat Dahlstrom and Eric Dahlstrom, and other academic staff on the 4th of January. The onboarding meeting was done virtually through Zoom, where we discussed topics to be taught throughout the program, logistics, and basic onboarding.
On the 2nd day of doing preparations, the 5th of January, the staff got together and assigned teaching associates (TAs) to help each lecturer throughout the program.
I cannot wait to meet all the participants, directors, lecturers, academic, logistics staff, and support staff in person for SHSSP23.
