Event Highlights: The Welcome Day of MSc/MSS25 was this past Thursday, 29th August 2024, at ISU Central Campus. ISU President Nicolas Peter and ISU Dean Su-Yin Tan welcomed this new cohort during an Opening Ceremony which took place in ISU’s Cosmos Auditorium. Ms. Sylvie Seigneur, representing the city of Illkirch Graffenstaden, and MSc/MSS24 class representatives joined them with messages of encouragement for the year to come. No better personality to launch the students into a new professional path than keynote speaker and Canadian astronaut Robert Thirsk. Dane Coult, part of ISU’s Executive Office and moderator of this ceremony, invited the audience to meet and network with the Executive Space Course – ESC24 ISU – participants over a local lunch at ISU consisting of tartes flambées.

Robert Thirsk gave the first lecture to MSc/MSS25 students (and ESC25 ISU participants) – what an inspiring way to start an academic and professional journey.

Students accompanied by Robert Thirsk took part in some integration activities including a boat tour of Strasbourg and a welcome at the historical city hall of Strasbourg. We take the opportunity to thank the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg for their warm welcome.

The Master’s programs in Space Studies are interdisciplinary programs that provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the rapidly evolving space sector.
