Experienced Leader to Drive ISU’s Strategic Vision in the Expanding Global Space Economy
Strasbourg, France – September 3, 2024 – The International Space University (ISU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John Wensveen as its new President. Dr. Wensveen, a seasoned expert in higher education, the aerospace industry, and entrepreneurship will succeed acting President Nicolas Peter, who will be returning to the European Space Agency after having admirably guided the institution through a significant period of transition.
Dr. Christian Sallaberger, Chairman of ISU’s Board of Trustees, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, stating:
“Dr. John Wensveen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the International Space University at a pivotal time for the global space industry. His proven track record in innovation and strategic development will be instrumental in keeping ISU at the forefront of the space world. We are confident that under Dr. Wensveen’s leadership, ISU will continue to thrive and expand its influence in academic, industrial, and governmental facets of global space activities.”
Dr. Wensveen joins ISU from his most recent position as Chief Innovation Officer at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and Executive Director of the Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation, where he spearheaded a successful public-private partnership in South Florida. His extensive background and leadership in various sectors will guide ISU as it develops and implements a long-term strategic plan that will solidify the university’s role in advancing space exploration and innovation.

Additionally, this strategic plan will include a global fundraising campaign aimed at securing the resources needed to grow our programs, partnerships, research, events, and services.
